Compressors
Compressors should be checked anytime the system is serviced.
Items checked on compressors:
- Compressor should be bolted down tightly
- Amp Draw should be checked
- Any strange noises should be investigated
If any noises can be heard this can indicate a compressor in trouble.
Usually the damage is already done and it becomes a question of
do you want to wait and see how long it will last or replace it now
before you get stuck with out airconditioning.
The good news is that if you have your airconditioner properly serviced
yearly it can last for years with out any compressor damage. That
is assuming it was also installed properly to begin with.
