Inspect
Bearings
Bearings should be inspected at least yearly and more often if possible.
Bearings need to be properly greased or they will over heat causing
major damage.
Damaged bearings may cause:
- Damage to shafts
- Damage to motors
- Damage to belts
- Damage to blower wheels
Replacing all these parts due to a bad bearing can be extremely
costly in some cases. Usually items such as shafts need to be specially
ordered so there will be a delay before the work can even begin.
The labor involved may be high due to some types of bearings and
shafts can be very time consuming to replace. Keeping bearings properly
lubed can help prevent this from occurring.
